要約)雲南省出身の舞踏家、ヤン・リーピンさんの「雲南映像」に続く新作がまもなく公演開始。

A long time ago, when the earth was only a plain, a god fell in love with a beautiful weaver girl in the far southeast of China. He then changed himself into colourful clouds before the girl's window, from where she drew out threads from the clouds and weaved a beautiful landscape painting. She unravelled it on the ground, and the painting turned into real landscape of Yunnan.

Inspired by the ancient epic "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" which contains numerous folk legends from Yunnan, the large-scale folk dance "Above the Heaven & Earth - Yunnan Imagination" will raise the curtain in Poly theatre next weekend.

The dance is divided into nine chapters to present the history and beauty of the region: "Love Between Heaven and Earth", "Migration of Chinese", "Fairy Ladies", "Ancient Spring", "Wind Hymn of Praise", "Snow Mountain and Three Rivers", "Man Moving Mountains", "Heaven Birds" and " the Confusion of Fair and Water".

Following the success way of "Dynamic Yunnan" launched by famous terpsichorean Yang Liping, the show is filled with folk songs and dances that celebrate the sun, the moon and the region's folk legends. About 140 performers from Yunnan Province, stage ritualistic folk dances, drumming, stomping, singing and floating elegantly across the stage like butterflies.

The show is also said to be one of the biggest dance shows ever, boasting a stellar cast. Esteemed choreographer, Zhang Jianmin, the show's general director, devised the dance sequences in Zhang Yimou's film "House of Flying Daggers" and earned his name through dance operas "Two Springs Reflect the Moon" and "Man Jiang Hong." Yao Hong, the famous soprano will sing , and the popular bands "Black Duck" and "Attraction" will cooperate with the China National Orchestra singers to present the chorus of the dance.
